Nothing is dull here in the Middle East.
We just experienced another war.
But what was different this time was when the war ended, the Muslim women from the village down the road requested to meet with the women in my community.
Women only.
To meet one another.
To emote.
To share from our hearts.
To find commonalities.
And to simply start a dialogue of peace.
Those of us who showed up to this meeting attended because we believe there’s got to be another way.
At that meeting, I got stuck on shame and embarrassment for never having considered learning basic Arabic so I could communicate in some way, shape, or form with my neighbors.
But I got unSTUCK when I made an important decision.
